The oil filter, also known as an oil separator or oil strainer, is considered the "guardian" of the engine. During engine operation, engine oil mixes with impurities such as metal shavings, dust, carbon deposits, gummy sediments, and moisture. The oil filter's role is to intercept and filter these impurities, ensuring that the oil flowing to all engine components is clean, maintaining good lubrication, thereby reducing wear on parts and extending engine life. It mainly consists of filter paper, a housing, and auxiliary components such as seals, support springs, and a bypass valve. The filter paper, as the core filtering element, has a fine fiber structure that can block micron-sized impurities; the bypass valve opens when the filter paper is clogged or the oil pressure is abnormal, ensuring oil flow and preventing engine damage due to insufficient oil; the check valve prevents oil backflow, allowing oil pressure to be quickly established when the engine starts. Regularly changing the oil filter is crucial for ensuring engine performance and lifespan, and it is recommended to do so at the same time as the oil change interval.
